Wales' coaching ticket for the summer tour is set to be revealed this week
Wales fly out to Japan in less than 40 days. Even in the wonderful world of Welsh rugby, where things rarely get sorted on time, there are still a few creases to be ironed out.
Little matters like a TV deal have yet to be signed off, although the expectation is that BBC Wales and S4C will get one Test each.
There is, as the season draws to a close, the other matter of no coaching ticket being announced.
Hopefully - as plans can often change in Welsh rugby - that will change officially this week.
It could even be that Wales’ squad is announced in the coming days, along with the temporary coaching ticket.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
The good news is that, behind the scenes, Wales’ coaching team for the summer is seemingly set.
Cardiff coach Matt Sherratt, having taken charge of the final three matches of the Six Nations on an interim basis, will continue as the search for Warren Gatland’s permanent successor goes on.
Gloucester skills coach T. Rhys Thomas and Harlequins scrum coach Adam Jones, having been there in the Six Nations, will continue to work with the national team.
Leigh Halfpenny, set to move to France next season, will take up a part-time role of kicking coach for the tour as he continues his tentative steps towards coaching after retiring.
Sherratt’s club colleague Gethin Jenkins will take charge of the defence, marking a return to the national team set-up - having held that role under Wayne Pivac between 2020 and 2022.
And, finally, Harlequins boss and Sherratt’s former colleague at Cardiff, Danny Wilson, will take charge of the forwards.
The pair know each other well, having masterminded Cardiff’s Challenge Cup victory in 2018.
