Two rounds of the 2025 Six Nations have passed and there is only one story in town.
Warren Gatland's position as head coach of Wales is almost untenable following a run of 14 straight Test match defeats.
It is nothing personal and Wales' problems are certainly multi-faceted, but the buck stops with the head coach. Gatland rightly received adulation for leading Wales to success between 2008-19 but now he is the brunt of a large amount of vociferous criticism.
Such is the life of a professional rugby coach. Given there is a break clause in his contract which can be activated by the WRU this summer at an affordable rate it is highly unlikely Gatland will be in place for the tour of Japan.
Understandably, the focus is on who will replace the 61-year-old as head coach. It's an understandable situation but the Welsh Rugby Union has an even bigger question it must answer. Who will replace Nigel Walker as executive director of rugby?
