The Dragons face an uphill battle to retain the services of Taine Basham, who is attracting interest from the Scarlets and a host of English clubs.
RugbyPass recently reported Northampton Saints, Bristol Bears and Sale Sharks are interested in Basham but were he to leave Wales he would become ineligible to represent his country under the controversial 25-cap law. Basham came close to leaving the Dragons at the end of last season but signed a one-year contract to remain at Rodney Parade.
The 25-year-old backrower started his international career with a bang but has missed out on the last couple of squads. On his day Basham is a superb player with an explosive carrying game and is destructive in defence while he adds physicality at the breakdown. The Dragons won't want to lose the man from Talywain in Gwent but he has many admirers.
Scarlets are a potential option while Cardiff could be interested if they fail to retain the services of Thomas Young who has many admirers across the Severn Bridge. Meanwhile, the Dragons are locked in a battle with French club Brive for the signing of Tinus de Beer from Cardiff.
